Uses of Shopify for WordPress eCommerce plugin
Shopify has been shaping itself to be one of the leading online platforms that help entrepreneurs sell their products on the web. Although it initially stood as an independent ecommerce solution for business owners, the company recently released plugins that aims to help WordPress business owners to integrate their Shopify account to their WordPress site.
You no longer need to turn your WP website or abandon it if you want to build online store. You can make online shopping easier and hassle free for your customers from your WordPress site with Shopify’s latest plugins. Shopify’s eCommerce Plugin- Shopping Cart is a free downloadable plugin that allows users to add a shopping function to their WP website.
The plugin was released earlier this year along with three other downloadable free themes. Through the plugin, owners can integrate their products on any post, page or sidebar of the website. It also does not require coding so it’s perfect for any website owner who does not have a wide knowledge of html or programming skills.
The Shopify eCommerce plugin is available in English, French, and Spanish. It keeps business owners from having to go through the hassle of customization just to integrate their website with their online store. The plugin allows business owners to integrate their products to their WP website even without turning the entire site into a full-fledged store.
In order to get the plugin going, it requires a $9/month Shopify Lite subscription. The plugin adds an “add product” option to new posts so website owners can also include the products they’ve put in their Shopify website into their WP website.
This way, potential customers no longer have to click on a hyperlink to take them to another page before they can purchase a product. With the Shopify plugin, all they need to do is click on the “Buy Now” button and the product is theirs.
Since the plugin basically serves as a bridge that connects Shopify with WordPress, it also allows your WordPress website to be integrated with your Shopify website. It not only establishes the fact that both websites are under the same owner; it also helps increase visibility for both sites.
However, it’s worth noting that while the plugin allows owners to fish some of their products from Shopify and integrate them to WordPress, the entire process still relies heavily on the contents of the Shopify site. So if you’re looking into creating a full-fledged separate WordPress ecommerce website that’s not affiliated with any Shopify account or website, will have to go back to square one and create an account on Shopify. Also, since it is a plugin, Shopify eCommerce plugin will not be able to provide the full features offered by the main Shopify website.
Aside from the plugin, Shopify also released free themes with Shopify integration. The themes were created in partnership with Themezilla, Ultralinx Themes, and Themify. The plugins are “Hype” by Themezilla, “Pulse” by Ultralinx Themes, and “Simple” by Themify.
